This week in Modern Topics the subject was marriage and all the trouble, oops, I mean happiness it brings! Well, more accurately we discussed the 7 most common things that lead to failed marriages. A lot of discussion revolved around the unreal expectation that once married, things would change. Many women seem to believe that her man would change and become a better man because of her love, or that having a baby will save a marriage. These and other common misconceptions were covered.
We also took a wedding obsession quiz to determine how interested we were in tying the knot. It seemed most of us weren’t all that excited about the prospect of spending the next 10,000+ breakfasts with one person.
Finally, we looked at marriage statistics in the US. The average traditional white-dress wedding in The States costs somewhere from $17,000 to $35,000. That’s US dollars, not NT. Las Vegas was discussed and the fact that you can marry in Las Vegas without any proof of divorce! Looking for a quick, cheap wedding? It costs $55US for a marriage license which can be obtained in minutes, and the ceremony can be done in just about every hotel restaurant there!
